In Garrard County Food Pantry fire

 LANCASTER, Ky. (WKYT) The officials in Garrard County have confirmed that one woman is detained following a Sunday morning fire at the Garrard County Food Pantry.

 Garrard County Emergency Management tells us that the structure appears to be totally destroyed.

 Debra Smalling 60 year old was taken into custody at her residence on Sunday evening in Lancaster.  Just after 10 on Sunday morning, Cash got a call that a fire had started in the building’s side. food pantry’s structure.

 Also difficult to grasp, is the fact that according to Lancaster Police, the fire was intentionally started. The chief Rodney Kidd said 60-year-old Debra Smalling was taken into custody and accused of arson in the 2nd degree. Police said surveillance footage showed her in the food pantry when she was arrested at the time of the fire.

 According to the arrest citation in the video, Smalling could be seen looking through a pile of paper and cardboard in the corner of the food pantry.

 According to court papers she confessed that she had thrown a lit cigarette into the heap.

 Yet even in the darkest of times, humanity continues to shine.

 “They didn’t quit. Just look around at all the volunteers, my buddies, rodney and his crew. Cash declared that Sunday is their day off.

 Cash isn’t sure of where or how they’ll build however he believes in his friends and their faith in their ability to keep going.

 “It’s only a minor hiccup but God’s got us.”

 Smalling is currently detained at the Jessamine County Detention Center.
